Mind Numbing

Rug rats across America are back in school after a nice summer respite.

Armed with backpacks, book bags, lunch boxes, pencil cases, and in some instances laptop computers, these walking masses of cells have returned to continue where their vacations ended a few short months earlier.

Just as with kids when I was young, this assemblage of wannabe graduates likely fit into one of three categories: kids who absolutely love school, young’uns who hate school, and sandwiched in betwixt are those who are there under duress.

Unfortunately, not all children are in the habit of going to school. Discipline for truancy varies between jurisdictions. Some employ numbers of days-per-month standards to measure attendance, while others could simply not care less. Until it’s time to receive that high school diploma, that is.

Further, there are AWOL students who feel as though they are smart enough to game “The System.” Alas, they’re not, developing habits that are best described as B-A-D.

Skipping classes has evidently become a game to a number of these malcontents who may feel as though their informative years are better spent smoking dope, having sex, and often committing crimes to occupy their idle lives.

Come next spring when it is again summer respite time, an illiteracy epidemic is rediscovered, and parents of the underachievers will become irate, blaming shortcomings of their progenies on everyone from teachers to administrators to school officials, even police resource officers. But rarely on themselves.

Upon closer inspection we find that the blame for failure can often times be squarely placed upon the shoulders of those ‘educators’ who believe their curricula are just what the students need to succeed in life.

Taught in elementary through high school are lessons on new math, appropriately applying condoms, illegal drug identification, racial animosity, reparations, social justice, climate change, secretly obtaining abortions, plus how and where to change one’s gender without parent approval.

This would be Babylon Bee material if not true. But it is.

In case you’re wondering why there is no mention of algebra, history, geography, English, or electives such as German, French, Spanish, or Latin languages, it’s because there’s not enough time in the day.

To aid in the making-kids-feel-good department, all kids are regularly passed to the next grade as an ego massage for truants who were busy making babies and/or stealing cars to even participate in classes.

Not to worry. Destined for lives earning newly established minimum wage hikes, these total losers will soon feel as though they earned their $25 per hour salary. But this is only the beginning of the destructive hurricane subsequently befalling America’s workforce.

Eventually failing upward into high school and eventually college, these students have been trained to become functional illiterates. They are unable to read, write, perform basic arithmetic, and effectively communicate orally.

It seems as though the powers-that-be who created these burdens on society are suddenly doing the two-step shuffle as a way to avoid being blamed for their intentional destruction of our scholastic system.

The University of California (UC) stopped requiring standardized testing as part of its admission process, per The Washington Examiner. Of those students, 70% did not meet middle school math proficiency standards.

“At UCSD, which Forbes ranked as the third-best public university in the nation, one-eighth of the 2025 incoming class did not meet middle school math standards, necessitating the creation of a remedial math course reviewing elementary-school arithmetic. On a test given in the remedial math class, a quarter of the students could not solve 7 + 2 = x + 6. And the majority of those remedial math students were not humanities majors, but rather science technology, engineering, or mathematics majors,” The Washington Examiner continues.

But why do these facts exist in the first place?

Let’s analyze how we arrived at this point of our lives.

With the decades-long decline in minority test scores, anointed felt systemic racism was the definitive culprit. Being kept out of white schools because of segregation laws, minorities were forced to attend blacks-only schools until at least the 1960’s. Once repealed, integration was not only encouraged – it was the law.

Public institutions of learning were suddenly thrust into helping nurture underprivileged minority students, often at the expense of white students who enjoyed often solid educations since kindergarten.

These new melding of people from different races and cultures was not a simple as the architects of this blending had believed. With understanding, patience, and resilience, the mixing of Americans in the Great Melting Pot was continuing, and with success.

But cultural norms began crumbling due to race hustlers who clearly saw their kingdoms collapsing, and rabble rousing, what was once a life-long career, was suddenly heading the way of the buggy whip.

Black athletes were now competing against white athletes, black students sat adjacent to white kids, and jobs were open to all races requiring competitiveness among both sides of this equation.

Unfortunately, killing personal grifts of ‘race spokesmen,’ and ‘black representatives,’ was not as easy as destroying invasive garden weeds. Employing camouflage tactics, combined with outright fabrications, this cadré of disaffected saviors were willing to reset the calendar back to the 1800’s for their job security.

Stoking the dying embers of racial animosity seemed like a great idea toward ensuring the races were to be separated based upon color. Discouraging black kids from “acting white.”

According to Wikipedia, “In the United States, acting white is a pejorative term, usually applied to black people by other black people, which refers to a person’s perceived betrayal of their culture by assuming the social expectations of white society.”

It goes on to say, “The term is controversial, and its precise meaning is hard to define; some usage focuses on success in education. It is theorized that some students in racial minority groups are discouraged from achieving in school by the negative prejudices of ethnic peers and by public figures and academics across the political spectrum.”

So, what exactly does this mean?

I’m glad you asked.

News reports, like clockwork, regularly enthusiastically push sordid details about America’s schools, teachers, learning materials, even methods used as tools for shaping our future leaders. Unfortunately, these ‘future leaders’ may not be ready to lead a pack of hungry wolves to meat.

Throughout the years, that apparent decline in learning has occurred even with many jurisdictions spending over $50,000 per year per elementary student, incorporating the latest technology in courses, plus eliminating learning barometers which have long-been used to optimally place students in post-graduation classes and careers.

What do we, as a society, now do with upward failing college graduates: graduates who are unable to read their own diploma?

Affirmative action – an effort to right historic wrongs – is now being used as a cudgel to place diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) promoted wannabes into fields of employment once thought improbable.

The medical profession is now encouraging DEI to summarily place once affirmative action job seekers into positions of making life and death decisions because of their race. Period.

If you have ever – EVER – been lying in an operating room and thought it would only be right to have a choice between an excellent doctor, or one based on the doctor’s color, please review your direction in life.

Finally, when you contemplate why certain segments of Americans don’t readily assimilate or remain illiterate following twelve-plus-years of schooling, do not blame whites or white society for their shortcomings. After all, those non-conformists are simply marching to the beat of a different drummer.

In other words, it’s their own fault.
